 Hi, I'm Anita Peacock, founder, owner, bag designer,
manager, order filler, shipper, whatever-you-need person
at Peacock Products:
Life Products for Diabetics.
Let me tell you a little bit of my story and how
Peacock Products came to be.
I've been a Type 1 insulin-dependent diabetic
my whole life. Well, I don't remember not being
diabetic. I was diagnosed in 1969, a few
months before my 6th birthday. I've seen marvelous
advances made in diabetes care since then, the home
glucose meter (oh, my gosh, I wish I'd had that as a kid!)
and the insulin pump are the headliners.
My diabetes was uncontrolled when I was a little kid;
so, by the time these wonderful diabetes control tools
emerged, my body already had SO MUCH damage that
it was too late to prevent life-changing diabetes complications,
including major vision loss and Charcot.
When I lost my sight, I was surprised to discover that there was
nothing visually-friendly about any of the 'meter bags' on the market.
Diabetes can cause blindness; so, this was quite shocking. Someone
should really do something about that.
Well, it seemed that job was going to fall on me.
I wanted something with style that was super-easy for me to use.
So, I began sketching my designs and went through a lengthy
prototyping process.
I tested each prototype (bag model) personally, making
adjustments to the design to make the bags intuitive
to use and lovely to tote. I wanted my bags to be better,
more diabetic-friendly than what was on the market.
Oh, and visually-friendlier, which was easy because there
was nothing remotely visually-friendly available anywhere.
I don't claim that my bags are perfect.
But, I put my heart, soul and lifetime of diabetes experience
into designing them. I listen to you, my customers, my friends.
I think of myself and Peacock Products as a
perpetual work-in-progress, with your help.
We're all in this together.
I can't cure diabetes. I can only offer you my bags to make
living with diabetes easier and more beautiful. We are much more
likely to take control if doing so doesn't interfere with living our lives.

Parents of kid diabetics, you have to make sure your child is
doing everything possible to prevent complications.

And 'complications' can be so much more than just complicated.
They can be heartbreaking losses that rewrite the way you (or your child)
live life in the future. We've got the management tools today; so, use them.
No procrastination. No excuses.
